e-Business
The term "eBusiness" or "e-Business" is an abbreviation for electronic business and was coined by Lou Gerstner, former CEO of IBM. It can be defined broadly as any business process that relies on an automated information system. Today, this is mostly done with web-based technologies.
In practice, electronic business involves companies linking their internal and external information systems to enable accurate and efficient access to data. Usually this means taking data that is normally only available inside an organization and publishing it on the web for public access. This opens a new avenue of communication with clients/customers and partners.
